Perhaps for the sake of expediency, the John H. Chaffee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor chose to foreshorten its name when its original Passport cancellations were ordered many years ago.  In the fall of 2008, in a quest for more accurate nomenclature, the NHC has replaced its cancellations with new ones that say this:

JHC Blackstone River Valley NHC/RI & MA
