Events

You're planning a fundraising event in a space that contains nothing but office-style florescent fixtures....

You're hanging centuries-old tapestries that require specialized archival lighting, so that no bright light damages the fragile threads of aging fabrics...

You're holding a major public Halloween event in a park with no installed night lightingÑand you want a spooky, holiday ambiance...

You're inviting 500 of your organization's biggest donors to the bash of the year...

You're launching your new product to an audience of 10,000 employees...

Whatever the challenge, Nic Minetor has the expertise, the connections and the experience to turn your unlit room into a festive, celebratory spaceÑeven when you want moving lights, patterns, colors and lots of action.

Some of Nic's memorable events include:

Pa-debehu-Aset Egyptian sarcophagus exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery. This stunning display of a 2,400-year-old sarcophagus and many other artifacts from the Memorial Art Gallery's ancient Egypt collection required subdued archival lighting that still allowed close inspection of the items' fascinating detail. Nic designed the lighting, specified the fiber optic fixtures and supervised the three-week installation in the display cases and throughout the room, including the creation of afternoon "sun" on the exhibition's entrance facade.
Zoobilation at the Seneca Park Zoo. An annual fundraising event that take place at night, allowing patrons to see the animals in action after dark. Zoobilation challenges have included the lighting of 17-foot-tall giraffes, a walk-through visiting exhibit of pigs, white tigers and elephants.
Spooktacular at the Seneca Park Zoo. This evening event in October replaced trick-or-treating for thousands of area children, who moved from station to station inside the zoo to collect treats from volunteers. As the Zoo has no night lighting of its own, Nic planned the placement of lights throughout the park to create safe, well-lit pathways for children while maintaining a spooky ambiance.
Upscale craft fair at the Memorial Art Gallery. This annual pre-Christmas event showcases the work of a select group of fine artisans from the upstate New York area. For this event, Nic provides attractive, functional lighting that enhances the art, while adding beauty and illumination to the century-old building that houses the fair.
Cornell University, induction of the new president. The day began with a parade in the university's field houseÑcomplete with marching bands and majorettesÑand when more that 500 top-level donors arrived at the field house that evening,, they found the athletic facility transformed into a lavishly decorated ballroom. Nic's lighting pulled the room together with completely different treatments for the parade and dinnerÑand special lighting for models who fascinated the crowd as living statuesÑfinally adding flash and sparkle to the accompanying student gala talent show, while providing the necessary illumination for a professional video recording of the event. Five separate lighting situations in one room in one dayÑa record-setting event by anyone's standards!
Ancient tapestries at the Memorial Art Gallery. These 13th century works required special archival lighting that would provide enough light to see the fine, hand-worked detail in the cloth, without damaging the fragile material. Nic solved the problem and created an atmosphere of comfortable, unhurried viewing for the Gallery's guests.
Judaica Museum, Temple B'rith Kodesh. To complement the tranquil atmosphere of this Rochester area synagogue, Nic provided specialty lighting of cherished art objects, guiding people to the museum's entrance without disrupting the meditative environment.
President Ronald Reagan visits Rochester. Nic provided the lighting design and supervision of its installation when President Reagan spoke at Rochester' War Memorial. In addition to Reagan, Nic lighted Vice President Dan Quayle and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton on other occasions.
Presentations by Chief Executive Officers. When a CEO makes a major speech to his/her employees, or when corporations launch new products with all-day events and seminars, Nic is there to make the starsÑboth CEO and productÑlook their best. Nic's lighting is a favorite for live broadcasts, studio tapings, location shoots (including CEO's offices) and more at Xerox Corporation, Wegmans Food and Pharmacy, Bausch & Lomb, Corning, Inc., Eastman Kodak Company and many other companies.
